His life, piety, and ultimate sacrifice are remembered with deep love and respect by Muslims around the world, especially by the Ahl-e-Sunnat wal Jama’ah.

His Birth, Life, and Special Love of the Prophet ﷺ

Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) was born on the 5th of Sha’ban, 4 AH in Madinah. When he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ as a newborn, the Prophet recited Adhan in his right ear and Iqamah in the left, and named him Hussain, a name never used in the Arab world before.

The Prophet ﷺ held a deep and public love for both Imam Hasan (رضي الله عنه) and Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه). He used to carry them on his shoulders and kiss them lovingly. In one Hadith:

“Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain. May Allah love the one who loves Hussain.”
(Tirmidhi, Hadith 3775)

Another narration mentions:

“These two (Hasan and Hussain) are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.”
(Ibn Majah, Hadith 118)

From these Hadiths, we learn that Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) was not just a family member of the Prophet ﷺ, but a spiritual leader and a role model for the Ummah.

His Noble Character, Piety, and Position in Islam

Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) inherited the best of qualities from his family — bravery from his father Ali (رضي الله عنه), modesty and piety from his mother Fatimah (رضي الله عنها), and mercy from his grandfather, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Some of his noble traits include:

  • Unmatched courage and fearlessness for truth
  • Taqwa (God-consciousness) in every aspect of life
  • Generosity and humility, especially towards the poor
  • Simplicity in lifestyle and devotion in worship

He spent his nights in Tahajjud, engaged in Qur’an recitation and dua, and helped the needy without expecting praise.

As per the Sunni scholars , Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) is not just a martyr but a symbol of steadfastness in Deen, whose stand against injustice at Karbala preserved the true spirit of Islam.

Conclusion

Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) is more than a historical figure—he is an inspiration. His unwavering stand for truth, his noble lineage, and the immense love of the Prophet ﷺ for him make him one of the greatest personalities in Islam.

The Power and Significance of Dua in Islam https://islamiczikr.com/power-and-significance-of-dua-in-islam/ https://islamiczikr.com/power-and-significance-of-dua-in-islam/#respond Thu, 22 May 2025 16:36:06 +0000 https://islamiczikr.com/?p=3328 Read more]]> Dua, commonly translated as “supplication” or “invocation,” holds a central place in the life of a Muslim. It is a direct line of communication between the servant and their Creator — a form of worship that transcends formal rituals and taps into the intimate, emotional connection a believer shares with Allah.

What Is Dua?

Dua is the act of calling out to Allah, seeking His help, mercy, forgiveness, and guidance. Unlike the five daily prayers (Salah), which follow a structured format, Dua is informal and personal. It can be made in any language, at any time, and in any setting. It reflects the believer’s acknowledgment of their dependence on Allah and their recognition of His power and mercy. Many believers also find comfort in reciting verses from the Qur’an, such as Surah Yasen, before or after making Dua, as it is known for its spiritual significance and calming effect on the heart.

Qur’anic Foundations

The Qur’an frequently emphasizes the importance of Dua. Allah says:

“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'”
(Surah Ghafir, 40:60)

This verse encapsulates the spirit of Dua — that Allah not only listens but promises to respond. It reassures believers that their supplications are never in vain, even if the answers come in ways they do not expect or understand.

Dua as an Act of Worship

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) described Dua as the essence of worship. In a hadith, he said:

“Dua is worship.”
(Tirmidhi)

This profound statement highlights that turning to Allah with one’s needs, hopes, and fears is itself a form of devotion. It shows humility, reliance, and trust — all core elements of Islamic faith.

The Etiquette of Making Dua

While Dua can be made at any time, there are certain etiquettes that can enhance its effectiveness:

  • Begin with praise of Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  • Face the Qibla and raise the hands in humility.
  • Have sincerity and presence of heart.
  • Ask with conviction and avoid hastiness.
  • Repeat the Dua, sometimes thrice, as was the practice of the Prophet.
  • End with more praise and blessings.

Times When Dua is More Likely to Be Accepted

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentioned specific times and conditions when Dua is more likely to be accepted, such as:

  • In the last third of the night
  • Between the adhan and iqamah
  • While fasting, and at the time of breaking the fast
  • On Fridays, especially during the last hour before Maghrib
  • When it rains
  • In prostration (sajdah)

Dua in Times of Ease and Hardship

A sincere believer makes Dua not only in times of hardship but also in times of ease. Remembering Allah during moments of joy ensures gratitude and builds a consistent spiritual connection. Conversely, turning to Him in times of distress offers comfort, strength, and hope.

Unanswered Duas — A Test of Faith

One of the most challenging aspects of Dua is when it seems unanswered. Islam teaches that Allah responds in one of three ways:

  1. He grants what is asked.
  2. He delays it for a better time.
  3. He withholds it to give something better or to prevent harm.

This divine wisdom calls for patience and trust in Allah’s plan. The act of Dua itself is never wasted — it strengthens faith and brings one closer to the Divine.

Conclusion

Dua is a profound spiritual tool that empowers the believer, offering solace in sorrow and gratitude in joy. It embodies the essence of Tawheed (oneness of God) and reinforces the core relationship between the Creator and His creation. Whether whispered in solitude or cried out in desperation, every sincere Dua reaches the One who listens — always.

The pivotal role of prayer, or Salah, in Islam cannot be overstated, as it stands as a cornerstone of our faith and a fundamental pillar upholding the structure of Islam. This sacred practice serves as a defining characteristic, distinguishing Muslims from their non-Muslim counterparts. The revered words of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasize this significance:

Guarding Against Disbelief

The Prophet (peace be upon him) highlighted the critical connection between prayer and belief, stating, “What stands between a man and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer.” Undeniably, neglecting this duty poses a threat to the very fabric of faith.

Foremost Among Duties

In his teachings, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) underscored the preeminence of prayer among one’s responsibilities, proclaiming, “Know that among your duties, prayer is foremost.” This reinforces the integral nature of Salah in a Muslim’s life.

The Essence of Prayer: Remembrance of Allah

At its core, prayer serves as a means to remember Allah, making it especially dear to the heart of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He affirmed, “He who gives up prayer has indeed disbelieved.” Such a profound connection with the divine underscores the spiritual essence of this practice.

Guarding Against Carelessness

The Quran warns against careless prayer, stating, “Woe to praying ones who are heedless of their prayers” [Al-Ma’un 107:4-5]. This serves as a reminder to approach prayer with sincerity and mindfulness.

Unveiling the Layers of Prayer

Understanding the various types of prayers enhances our commitment to this sacred act. Here are distinct categories:

FARD: Obligatory and Non-negotiable

Fard prayers, commanded by Allah, hold a paramount status. Failure to perform them without valid reasons designates one as a transgressor, even a potential disbeliever. It is imperative to uphold these prayers with unwavering dedication.

WAJIB: Almost as Crucial as Fard

Wajib prayers, nearly as obligatory as Fard, demand consistent observance. Denying a Fard renders one a non-believer, but neglecting a Wajib marks one as a major sinner. Making up any missed Fard or Wajib prayers is mandatory.

SUNNAH MUAKKADAH: Prophet’s Exemplary Prayers

These prayers, consistently performed by the Prophet (peace be upon him), carry significant weight. While omission incurs no sin, continuous neglect constitutes a transgression.

SUNNAH GHAIR MUAKKADAH: Voluntary and Optional

Unlike obligatory prayers, the Prophet (peace be upon him) occasionally omitted Sunnah Ghair prayers without repercussions. Opting out incurs no punishment, yet participating brings spiritual rewards.

NAFL: The Voluntary Offerings

In addition to obligatory prayers, the Prophet (peace be upon him) engaged in voluntary Nafl prayers. Voluntary worship, as highlighted in Hadith, serves as a means to draw closer to Allah.

The Daily Rhythm of Prayer

The five daily prayers, each comprising specific Rakaats, structure a Muslim’s day:

  1. FAJR: 2 Rakaats (Sunnah Muakkadah) and 2 Rakaats (Fard)
  2. ZUHR: 4 Rakaats (Sunnah Muakkadah), 4 Rakaats (Fard), 2 Rakaats (Sunnah Muakkadah), and 2 Rakaats (Nafl)
  3. ASR: 4 Rakaats (Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah) and 4 Rakaats (Fard)
  4. MAGHRIB: 3 Rakaats (Fard), 2 Rakaats (Sunnah Muakkadah), and 2 Rakaats (Nafl)
  5. ISHA: 4 Rakaats (Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah), 4 Rakaats (Fard), 2 Rakaats (Sunnah Muakkadah), 2 Rakaats (Nafl), 3 Rakaats (Witr), and 2 Rakaats (Nafl)

Magnifying the Importance: A Call to Action

ALLAHU AKBAR!!

Let’s propagate this knowledge as an everlasting charity, Sadqa-e-Jaaria, ensuring blessings for both you and me. In the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): “Whoever directs someone to a good, then he will have the reward equal to the doer of the action.” [Muslim 1893].

Definition of Fasting and Age of the Fasting Person https://islamiczikr.com/definition-of-fasting-and-age-of-the-fasting-person/ https://islamiczikr.com/definition-of-fasting-and-age-of-the-fasting-person/#respond Sat, 16 Mar 2024 09:00:03 +0000 https://islamiczikr.com/?p=2714 Read more]]>

Fasting during Ramzan Sharif is also a duty like namaz. The one who denies that these are duties is an infidel, and the one who leaves them without any excuse is a grave sinner and is destined for hell. Those boys or girls who are powerful should be killed and fast should be observed.

Note:- The order to hit during Roza and Namaz means three slaps. Do not hit with sticks.

Praise of fasting

(Definition) In Shariat, fasting means abstaining from eating, drinking and sex from morning till sunset with the intention of worshiping Allah.

A prerequisite for fasting is that a woman be free from menstruation. That means fasting is not valid in the condition of menstruation and nifaas. It is obligatory for the one undergoing menstruation and nifaas to observe qaza of fasting on those days after becoming pure.

Fasting is obligatory on a minor ?

Masala:- Fasting will not be obligatory minor and on Majnoon. At the same time, the entire month of Ramadan passes in a state of obsession. But if even on one day you realize that it is the time for fasting, then it is necessary to make Qadha for the entire month. If someone goes mad since the beginning of Ramzan and regains consciousness sometime between morning of Sadiq on 29th till Zohav-e-Kubra, then Qaza of the entire Ramzan will be obligatory.
