You Alone we worship, You Alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those whom You have favoured, not of those who incur (Your) anger nor of those who have gone astray. (1:1-7)

Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūm, bi-raḥmatika astaghīth, aṣliḥ lī sha’nī kullah, wa lā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn.

O The Ever Living, The Sustainer of all. ; I seek assistance through Your mercy. Rectify all of my affairs and do not entrust me to myself for the blink of an eye.

Allāhumma qanniʿnī bimā razaqtanī, wa bārik lī fīhī, wa-khluf ʿalā kulli ghā’ibati-l-lī bi-khayr.

O Allah, make me content with what You have granted me, bless me in it and be a protector for me in that which is absent from me (i.e. family and wealth).

Ibn ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ would supplicate with [the above]. (Hākim 1/455)

#2 When feeling Scared

Aʿūdhu bi kalimāt-i-llāhi-t-tāmmāti min ghaḍabihi wa ʿiqābih, wa sharri ʿibādih, wa min hamazāti-sh-shayaṭīn wa an yaḥḍurūn.

I seek protection in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the evil suggestions of the devils and from them appearing to me.

ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb narrated from his father, who narrated from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you becomes frightened during sleep, then let him say: [the above]. For verily, they shall not harm him.” He said: “So ʿAbdullah b. ʿAmr (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) used to teach it to those of his children who attained maturity, and those of them who did not, he would write it on a sheet and then hang it around their neck.” (Tirmidhī 3528)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A good dream is from Allah, so if anyone of you sees a dream which pleases him, he should not tell anybody about it except to the one whom he loves. And if he sees a dream which he dislikes, then he should seek Allah’s protection from its evil and from the evil of Shaytān. He should spit three times on his left and should not tell anybody about it, lest it might harm him.” (Bukhārī 6986)

#3 When feeling Scared

Allāhumma-kfinīhim bimā shi’ta.

O Allah, suffice me from them, with what You choose.(Muslim 3005)

#4 When feeling Scared

Allāhumma innā najʿaluka fī nuḥūrihim, wa naʿūdhu bika min shurūrihim.

O Allah, we make You our shield against them and we seek refuge in You from their evil.

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was apprehensive of [a group] of people, he would say: [the above]. (Abū Dāwūd 1537)

#5 When feeling Scared

Allāhumma Anta Aḍudī wa Anta Naṣīrī, Bika aḥūlu, wa bika aṣūlu, wa bika uqātil.

O Allah, You are my aid and helper; by You I move, by You I attack, and by You I fight.

Anas b. Mālik (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on an expedition, he said [the above].” (Abū Dāwūd 2632)


  1. Turn to Allah in Prayer: Engage in sincere and heartfelt prayers to seek comfort and strength from Allah. Regularly perform your daily prayers and make specific supplications for protection and courage.
  2. Recite Quranic Verses: Recite verses from the Quran that offer solace and reassurance. Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255) and the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285-286) are known for their protective qualities.
  3. Seek Refuge in Allah: Recite the supplications for seeking refuge (A’udhu) from the evil of fear and any harm. Seeking refuge in Allah is a powerful way to dispel fear.
  4. Remember Allah’s Names: Reflect on the names and attributes of Allah, particularly those related to mercy, protection, and strength. Knowing that Allah is the Most Merciful and the Protector can bring a sense of calm.
  5. Practice Deep Breathing and Relaxation: Islam encourages maintaining a calm and composed demeanor. Practice deep breathing and relaxation techniques to help alleviate anxiety and fear.
  6. Maintain a Strong Connection with Allah: Strengthen your relationship with Allah through consistent acts of worship, such as prayer, supplication, and regular recitation of the Quran. A strong spiritual connection can bring inner peace.
  7. Engage in Dhikr (Remembrance): Engage in the remembrance of Allah through phrases such as “La ilaha illallah” (There is no god but Allah) and “Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa” (Allah is Sufficient for me; there is no deity except Him). These expressions provide reassurance and comfort.
  8. Seek Knowledge: Learn about the teachings of Islam regarding fear and courage. Understanding the wisdom behind challenges and relying on Allah’s guidance can strengthen your resolve.
  9. Seek Support from Others: Share your fears with trusted friends, family members, or members of the community. Seeking emotional support is encouraged in Islam, and connecting with others can alleviate anxiety.
  10. Trust in Allah’s Plan: Remember that Allah is in control of all affairs. Trust in His plan and have faith that He is the Best of Planners. Acceptance of Allah’s decree can bring a sense of peace and resilience.

Bismi-llāhi-r-Raḥmāni-r-Raḥīm. Alḥamdu-lillāhi Rabbi-l-ʿālamīn, ar-Raḥmāni-r-Raḥīm, Māliki yawmi-d-dīn, iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn, ihdina-ṣ-Ṣirāṭa-l-Mustaqīm, ṣirāṭa-lladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim ghayri-l-maghḍūbi ʿālayhim wa la-ḍ-ḍāllīn.

“In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very Merciful. All praises and thanks are for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, The All-Merciful, The Very Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgement. You Alone we worship, You Alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those whom You have favoured, not of those who incur (Your) anger nor of those who have gone astray. (1:1-7)”

Rabbi innī limā anzalta illayya min khayrin faqīr.

“My Lord, truly I am in dire need of any good which You may send me. (28:24)”

Allāhumma aḥsin ʿāqibatanā fi-l-umūri kullihā, wa ajirnā min khizyi-d-dunyā wa ʿadhābi-l-ākhirah.

“O Allah, grant us the best outcome in all of our affairs, and protect us from the humiliation of this world and the punishment of the hereafter.”

Busr b. Abī Artāt (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicate with [the above]. (Aḥmad 17628)

Allāhumma-hdinī wa saddidnī, Allāhumma innī as’aluka-l-hudā wa-s-sadād.

“O Allah, guide me and grant me firmness. O Allah, I beg You for guidance and firmness (on the straight path).”

Hazrat E Ali (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ  said to him: “Say: [the above], and when you make a mention of guidance, keep in mind the (Straight) Path. And when you consider the Straight (Path), keep in mind the straightness of the arrow.” (Muslim 2725)


  1. Seek Guidance through Prayer (Salah): Engage in prayer and seek guidance from Allah. During your prostration (sujood), ask for clarity and wisdom.
  2. Consult the Quran: Turn to the Quran for guidance. Reflect on relevant verses that may provide insight into your situation.
  3. Make Istikhara: Perform the Istikhara prayer, seeking Allah’s guidance in making decisions. Trust that Allah will guide you towards what is best.
  4. Seek Advice from Knowledgeable Individuals: Consult knowledgeable and pious individuals, such as scholars or wise elders, who can provide guidance based on Islamic teachings.
  5. Reflect on Prophetic Guidance: Consider how the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) dealt with uncertainty and seek inspiration from his life and teachings.
  6. Practice Patience and Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah): Be patient during times of confusion, and trust in Allah’s plan. Place your reliance on Him and acknowledge that He is the Best of Planners.
  7. Make Dua (Supplication): Ask Allah for clarity, wisdom, and guidance. Pour your heart out in sincere supplication, expressing your confusion and seeking His help.
  8. Take Practical Steps: While relying on Allah, take practical steps to gather information or seek advice that can help in making an informed decision.
