Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min-l-hammi wa-l-ḥazan, wa aʿūdhu bika min-l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasal, wa aʿūdhu bika min-l-jubni wa-l-bukhl, wa aʿūdhu bika min ghalabati-d-dayni wa qahri-r-rijāl.
“O Allah, I seek Your protection from anxiety and grief. I seek Your protection from inability and laziness. I seek Your protection from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek Your protection from being overcome by debt and being overpowered by men.”
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) recounted an incident where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ ) entered the mosque and found Abu Umamah (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) from the Ansar sitting there outside prayer time. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked about the reason, Abu Umamah (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) explained his continuous worries and debts. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then offered a solution, suggesting words to be recited in the morning and evening to alleviate worries and settle debts. Abu Umamah followed the advice, and by doing so, he witnessed the removal of his concerns and the settlement of his debts. (Abu Dawood1555)

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min ḍīqi-d-dunyā wa ḍīqi yawmi-l-qiyāmah.
O Allah, I seek Your protection from the anguish of the world and the anguish of the Day of Judgement.
Sharīq al-Hawzānī (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that when he inquired, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the supplication with which the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commenced his night prayer, she responded, “You have asked me about something that no one has asked me before.” She then explained that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) woke up at night, he would say “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest) ten times, followed by “Alḥamdullillāh” (All praise be to Allah) ten times. Subsequently, he would recite “Subḥāna-llāhi wa bi ḥamdih” (Allah is free from imperfection, and all praise is due to Him) ten times, then “Subḥānal Malik al-Quddūs” (How perfect is the Sovereign, the Most Holy) ten times. Additionally, he sought Allah’s forgiveness ten times and recited “There is no god but Allah” ten times. Finally, he repeated the aforementioned supplications ten times before commencing the prayer.
